Tlhabane Water AC Replacement Project
24 April 2020
Rustenburg Local Municipality embarked on a water conservation management initiative to minimise water losses throughout the Rustenburg area. Tlhabane township has a water supply delivered by a network of Asbestos Cement pipes that are past their design life and are prone to frequent bursts and leaks which results in significant non-revenue water for the Rustenburg local Municipality.
ZIYANDA Consulting cc was appointed by Rustenburg Local Municipality to provide consulting engineering services in replacement of Asbestos Cement water pipelines in Tlhabane Township. ZIYANDA Consulting cc’s brief included design and implementation of 25mm to 110mm HDPE/uPVC reticulation network and associated infrastructure to supply water to 3 240 households in Tlhabane. Beneficiaries are approximately 22 500 people.
The Tlhabane Water AC Water Replacement project incorporated 12 local SMME’s and employed over 60 residents during its implementation. The project provided formal training in various trades to 20 local youth.
