Nhlathimbe Water Project

The Nhlathimbe Water Project has been designed to be implemented in a single phase consisting of the following components:

  • Feasibility Study and preparation of the Business Plan
  • Construction of the Nhlathimbe River Abstraction, Water Treatment Works (WTW)
  • Construction of Pumpstation No. 1 with the capacity to pump at 4l/s at a 200m head
  • Construction of a 110mm Diameter x 1.7 km long steel rising main from the WTW to the Reservoir
  • Construction of a 500 kl Reservoir which will provide 48 hour storage for the project area at the 20 year demand levels.
  • Construction of a 75mm diameter x 1.2km long steel gravity pipeline, a 90 mm diameter x 1.3km long uPVC pipeline, 75 mm diameter x 3.8km long uPVC pipeline, 32 mm diameter x 14km long HDPE class 10 Reticulation Pipeline
  • Connection of 20 standpipes as the final stage to allow access for all the households within the community, within 200m of their households.

Beneficiaries: An estimated 230 households benefit directly under this application as it applies to the bulk and distribution infrastructure for the entire Nhlathimbe area.
