Mdlebeni Sanitation Project

This project involves the conversion of onsite sanitation for households into sanitation. ZIYANDA Consulting was appointed provided all civil engineering consulting input for the conversion. This included the following:

• Assessments of existing sewage treatment infrastructure (condition and capacity), including VIP toilet structures, downstream outfall sewers;
• Design and implementation of infrastructure to achieve conversion.

The resulting project will be implementation/construction of the following:

• Construction of house connections and reticulation sewerage lines approximately 10km of sizes 110mm – 200mm Diameter,
• Construction of bulk sewerage (outfall sewer lines and rising lines) and associated pumpstations to convey raw sewage from the project area to the proposed Mdlebeni Waste Water Treatment Works (WWTW)
• Construction of the proposed Mdlebeni WWTW with a capacity of 2.5Ml/day upgradeable to a capacity of 5 Ml/day.
• Construction of toilets, including sewer reticulation for Lindelani Village

The project is under Preliminary Design Phase.
