This project involves the conversion of onsite sanitation for households into sanitation. ZIYANDA Consulting was appointed provided all civil engineering consulting input for the conversion. This included the following:
- Assessments of existing sewage treatment infrastructure (condition and capacity), including VIP toilet structures, downstream outfall sewers;
- Design and implementation of infrastructure to achieve conversion.
The resulting project will be implementation/construction of the following:
- Construction of house connections and reticulation sewerage lines approximately 10km of sizes 110mm – 200mm Diameter,
- Construction of bulk sewerage (outfall sewer lines and rising lines) and associated pumpstations to convey raw sewage from the project area to the proposed Mdlebeni Waste Water Treatment Works (WWTW)
- Construction of the proposed Mdlebeni WWTW with a capacity of 2.5Ml/day upgradeable to a capacity of 5 Ml/day.
- Construction of toilets, including sewer reticulation for Lindelani Village
The project is under Preliminary Design Phase.
